PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmitting/receiving apparatus, with excellent economical efficiency capable of automatic wavelength setting in the same apparatus configuration between counter apparatuses in a wavelength multiplexed optical communication system.;SOLUTION: An optical transmitting/receiving apparatus 310 comprises an optical transmitter 312 corresponding to both optical signals of wavelengths λ1 and λ2, an optical receiver 314 corresponding to both the optical signals of the wavelengths λ1 and λ2, 2×2 optical switches 316 capable of switching a transmission/reception path between cross and through, and a wavelength multiplexer/demultiplexer 318 for multiplexing/demultiplexing the optical signals of the wavelengths λ1 and λ2. Said optical transmitting/receiving apparatus is capable of switching the wavelength of the optical transmitter 312 and the state of connecting the optical switches 316 using a control circuit 1000 in accordance with the wavelength of a received optical signal from a counter optical transmitting/receiving apparatus. The control circuit 1000 switches the transmission/reception wavelength at random time intervals, thereby reducing the repetition probability of a wavelength setting operation caused by simultaneously setting the same transmission/reception wavelength with the counter optical transmitting/receiving apparatus.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
