PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manhole capable of ensuring a wide working space inside thereof in the manhole wherein a vertical watercourse is incorporated. PSOLUTION: An impervious plate 1 is vertically placed along a wall surface in a part lower than a water inlet 8a in an inner wall surface opposed to an inner wall surface mounting a step 7 for ascending and descending thereto in the manhole 6. The water impervious plate 1 is made to locate an inspection window equipped with a lid 11 to the extension of a water pipe 8 connected to the water inlet 8a and, at the same time, it is mounted in a state of lifting the lower end from the bottom of the manhole 6. Water thereby flowing from the water pipe 8 vertically falls from a void between the inner wall surface of the manhole 6 and the impervious plate 1, and the watercourse 10 flowing into a drain pipe 9 through the bottom surface is formed.
