PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for outline font output, and a computer program, which can shorten the time up to display or printing of an outline font by approximating an outline line to a polygonal line and lightening the load of arithmetic processing for area calculation of a corner portion of a font. PSOLUTION: The device for outline font output which approximates a closed curve representing an outline to a polygonal line and specifies gray density of pixels where a corner portion of the approximated polygonal line is present to output the outline font has pixels which are rectangular or square unit pixels, and is equipped with an area calculating means of calculating the area of a font area enclosed with one or a plurality of edges opposed to the corner portion of the approximated polygonal line in a unit pixel and a density specifying means of specifying the gray density of the unit pixel according to the calculated area.
