A system is included which includes a biomass treatment apparatus which enables the successful treatment of high dry weight biomass of biomass solids in the biomass mixture. The system design provides extensive reagent distribution by spreading the reagent over the biomass as the reagent is introduced through the injection lance, while the biomass is rotated using paddles (18). The apparatus system provides extensive assimilation of the reagent into the biomass using blades (18) to lift and drop the biomass, as well as friction means (19) falling on the biomass to improve the treatment process.
