METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING AN AGENT THAT INHIBITS HIV INFECTION, PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION FOR THE INHIBITION OF HIV INFECTION IN AN INDIVIDUAL, AS WELL AS USE OF THAT AGENT. The present invention relates to new host factors for interaction with HIV. The invention also provides methods of using host factors of interaction with HIV to evaluate compounds that inhibit HIV infection. The methods comprise first assessing test compounds for modulators of an HIV interaction host factor described here and then further assessing the identified modulation compounds for their ability to inhibit HIV infection. The invention further provides pharmaceutical methods and compositions for treating diseases and conditions associated with HIV infection.
