METHOD FOR FOLDING A TRANSFORMING BETA GROWTH FACTOR, OR A FUNCTIONAL ANALOG OF THE SAME, IN A DIMMERIC AND BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE FORM AND METHOD OF PRODUCTION OF AN ACTIVE BETA TRANSFORMING GROWTH FACTOR FROM A PRO-CARIER HOST. The present invention relates to a method for folding a transforming growth factor Beta or a functional analog thereof, into a biologically active, dimeric form. The method involves adding unfolded monomeric growth factor, solubilized to a solution containing 2- (cilcohexylamino) -ethanesulfonic acid (CHES) or a functional analog thereof, and a low molecular weight sulfhydryl / disulfide oxidation system. The solution is then incubated under conditions suitable for the generation of transforming growth factor Beta active, biologically dimeric.
