The present invention relates to a process for producing shaped moldings of expanded polystyrene, said process comprising filling a mold (1) with polystyrene material (2) consisting of 0 to 80 percent by volume new polystyrene beads and 20 to 100 percent by volume crushed polystyrene. The polystyrene material (2) is subsequently compressed a heated wherein mutual joining of surfaces of the polystyrene material (2) individual particles. The invention also relates to a molding, especially a shaped molding of expanded polystyrene produced by the above-described production process and comprising 0 to 80 percent by volume new polystyrene beads and 20 to 100 percent by volume crushed polystyrene.
