Process for the Preparation of JevSel 101- an Organic Source of Selenium was standardized using Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Saccharomyces cerevisiae was grown in a broth media at a definite temperature. Then a definite amount of aqueous solution of sodium selenite (inorganic salt of selenium) of a definite concentration was added to it and incubated further for a definite time. Yeast cells were then harvested by centrifugation at a defined speed followed by defined number of washings with distilled water removing extra cellular selenium. The harvested product was then oven-dried at certain temperature and the product was stored for further use. The product so obtained by the above process was found to contain about 1.34% selenium on dry matter basis.
