The present invention relates to the formulation and preparation of asafoetida in the liquid form by blending asafoetida volatile oil, asafoetida non volatile extract with edible and permitted diluents in specified proportions. The product prepared by this method is in the liquid form and is completely soluble in aqueous as well as oil medium and, is easy to handle and mix in food preparations.
