The present invention refers to a system for automatically detecting and classifying natural and artificial defects in wet-blue type leathers. The purpose of the invention is to determine the position as well as the type of defects present in the wet-blue type leather, the type of defect would be defined from a catalogue of defects within which the automatic classification is performed. The detection and classification is currently performed in a manual form by a human operator, the present invention providing an automated system for performing said task using a device for collecting visual information, also using a support for supporting the wet-blue leather subjected to inspection. The invention has a computer system for the smart processing of the visual information collected by the collecting device.
