Disclosed is the use of a polyphenol extract from grapes in an amount effective to lower blood pressure in the manufacture of a medicament for treating and/or preventing Metabolic Syndrome or prehypertension in a mammal in need thereof, wherein the extract comprises about 2 percent by weight or less epicatechin-gallate terminal units.
