The method involves determining a value of a parameter for a selected secondary station (120) of a radio-operated multi-hop hazard reporting system (100), where the value is indicative of a connection security only between the secondary station and a main station (110). A value of another parameter is determined for the secondary station, and is indicative of the connection security only between any directly adjacent secondary stations (121, 122) and the main station. Quality of communication connection is determined based only on the values of the corresponding parameters.
