The invention relates to a method and an equipment intended for volume nanostructuring blanks as bars or wires of low diameter and high lengths, by severe plastic deformation. According to the invention, the method consists in achieving a uniform nanostructuring while highly refining the crystalline grains of a material, the plastic deformation taking place in one or more sections of a blank, by shearing perpendicular to the blank axis, upon continuously changing direction and at continuously changing deformation size and rate, along a programmed trajectory, associated with the severe axial compression of the blank and the permanent change of the shearing section, as a consequence of the repeated axial motion of the blank at a certain advance rate, up to the complete nanostructuration thereof on its entire length. The claimed equipment comprises a blank (1) in contact with some half-bushings (2', 2'', 18' and 18'') and some bushings (9 and 14), integral with a slide (10) performing a motion (c) normal to the blank axis and another slide (11), integral with another bushing (12), simultaneously performing a motion (d) normal to the motion (c) and to the axis of the blank (1), both motions taking place with the view of material shearing in one or more sections thereof and being so programmed as to result in the deformation trajectory (T), the repeated axial motion of the blank (1) with the advance (s) being achieved by means of two hydraulic cylinders (5 and 15) made integral with the blank (1) by two respective pairs of half bushings (2', 2'') and (18', 18'') and which, under the action of the oil existing in some chambers (a) and (b), generate forces to compress the blank (1).
