A method for assessing the renal impairment in systemic lupus erythematosus comprises the complete blood and urine analysis, the assay for the level of serum albumin and creatinine, proteinuria, cylindruria, hematuria, the level of homocysteine. The persistent hyperhomocysteinemia within three months is predictive of the severe renal impairment in the patients with chronic renal failure.
