Procedure for the genetic identification of European Atlantic spider crab (Maja brachydactyla).; It has developed a protocol for genetic identification of European Atlantic spider crab (Maja brachydactyla) compared to other species of the genus found in the Mediterranean (M. squinado, M. and M. crispata goltziana). These species are a valuable commercial resource; identification is critical to enable proper traceability and labeling and to guide management and conservation.; The protocol consists of amplifying a region of 671 bp 16S mitochondrial DNA whose nucleotide sequence is characteristic of each of the four species. In particular, to differentiate M. brachydactyla are designed specific primers that allow to amplify a 223 bp internal fragment.
