A moving-image holographic reproducing device thatincludes a reflective liquid crystal display and further alight-emitting diode functioning as a light source and thatis capable of reproducing a high-resolution image in asimple way is provided. Also, a color moving-imageholographic reproducing device that is capable ofreproducing a color holographic image by a significantlysimplified structure using a single plate hologram withoutthe need for time-multiplexing is provided.The moving-image holographic reproducing deviceincludes a computer for creating a hologram from three-dimensional coordinate data, a reflective liquid crystaldisplay for displaying the hologram, a half mirror forprojecting the displayed hologram, and a light-emittingdiode, wherein a reconstructed three-dimensional image isdisplayed by illuminating the half mirror with light emittedfrom the light-emitting diode.Manipulating a sufficiently large sizethree-dimensional holographic image in real time requirescomputational power one thousand to ten thousand timeshigher than that of current supercomputers. According tothe present invention, such an amount of information can beprocessed at high speed by dedicated hardware in a highlyparallel and distributed manner.
