An objective and reproducible system for, and method of, monitoring and/orcontrolling the pressure during nerve blockage injection, especially by lessexperienced personnel, is provided in order to decrease the possibility ofintraneuronal injection. More specifically, the present invention employs apressure sensing and/or limiting device (20) located between an injectiondevice (10) (typically a syringe) and a nerve block needle (60) wherebyinjection pressure during a nerve block injection can be easily andobjectively monitored, thereby allowing the operator to monitor the injectionpressure and/or linjection speed during a nerve blockage injection procedureand to take appropriate corrective actions if abnormal pressure conditions areobserved.
