The present invention relates to absorbent articles, such as diapers andsanitary napkins, and topsheets useful for such articles. More specifically,the invention relates to an absor-bent article (20) comprising: - a liquidimpervious backsheet (26); - a liquid pervious topsheet (24) joined to saidbacksheet (26), said topsheet (24) having an inner surface oriented toward aninterior of said article (20) and an outer surface oriented toward the skin ofa wearer when said article is being worn, wherein at least a portion of saidtopsheet outer surface comprises a lotion - an absorbent core (28) positionedbetween said topsheet (24) and said backsheet (26); wherein the lotion isapplied to the liquid pervious topsheet (24) in the form of a pattern of aplurality of stripes (70), that are separated by a plurality of areas havingno lotion; and the pattern of a plurality of stripes (70) is a discontinuouspattern.
