The invention relates to a solid carbonaceous material comprising at least one additive, the microstructure of this material being such that it has all of the following: a BET specific surface area of between 50 m2/g and 2000 m2/g; a total porosity of between 800 mm3/g and 1300 mm3/g, in which the volume due to the microporosity and to the mesoporosity represents between 10% and 80% of the volume of the total porosity; and an amorphous character such that the ratio of the amount of carbon having a graphitic structure to the total amount of carbon is between 20% and 95%. Such a material is used to catalyse the destruction of pollutants contained in a fluid. The invention also relates to a part comprising the material and to the uses of the material.
