The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition in the form of lipid solid dispersions comprising of a poorly water soluble drug and a lipid material, and their use in dosage form. The said solid dispersions enhance the bioavailability of active agents, are convenient to administer, and are stable. The present invention also provides a process for the preparation of these lipid solid dispersions by spray drying a dispersion of poorly soluble water soluble drug and lipid excipient.
