The invention relates to the field of producing articles with a decorative pattern applied to the surface thereof, primarily sheet articles and web materials, and can be used in the formation of a decorative coating on the relief surface of an elongated material during the production of articles for different purposes, preferably finishing and cladding materials. The processing line comprises the following series of components: a device for delivering an elongated article with a relief surface that is made up of projections and/or depressions, a device for applying a substance to the relief surface of the elongated article and a mechanical removal device for removing the excess substance, said removal device being mounted so as to be capable of mutual movement with the elongated article undergoing treatment, wherein a support is situated below the mechanical removal device.
