Provided are a method and an apparatus for easily identifying and detecting the kinds of fluorescent materials captured in respective reaction regions of a substrate, specifically, a method and an apparatus for identifying and measuring the intensities of fluorescences emitted from a plurality of fluorescent materials with a small number of pixels.The intensities of the fluorescences emitted from a plurality of four or more kinds of fluorescent materials are divided/detected by means of an isolating unit which divides the intensities of the fluorescences with different ratios for at least respective fluorescence maximum wavelength ranges, and by means of at least one detector having pixels, each of which detects the light that has been divided with the different ratios. The kind of the fluorescent material is determined on the basis of the ratio of the detected fluorescent intensity obtained from the same region and the intensity of the fluorescence is measured.
