A method and device for allocating bandwidth resource of a WiMAX system is provided in the invention, which acquire the channel conditions of all the service connections, allocate basic bandwidth resource to all the service connections configured with the minimum reserved rate, and then according to the channel conditions, allocate the optimized bandwidth resource to all the service connections without distinguishing the service types. Compared with the prior art, the scheduling method in the invention, in manner of hierarchical scheduling, firstly performs a first resource allocation for meeting the minimum reserved rate requirement of all the connections, secondly, in the case of sufficient bandwidth, selects the service connection with good channel condition to perform a second resource allocation, so that the Quality of Service (QoS) with the minimum reserved rate is ensured, and the maximization of the system throughput and the efficient utilization of the bandwidth resource are realized.
