The present invention relates to a novel enantioselective amidase specific to L-amino acid amide and to a gene encoding same. The activity and heat resistance of the enantioselective amidase of the present invention is remarkably higher than those of conventional L-enantioselective amidases, and the enantioselective amidase of the present invention has the effect of producing high-purity L-amino acids from a mixture of D-amino acid amide and L-amino acid amide.
