A fault current experiment detection device for a direct current transmission converter valve includes a high voltage low current loop, a low voltage high current loop and a fault current loop. The high voltage low current loop, the low voltage high current loop and the fault current loop are connected to a sample converter valve Vt in series individually. At first the sample converter valve is heated up to the stable state by the high voltage low current loop and the low voltage high current loop, and then fault current required is supplied by the fault current loop, and an experiment is performed after a switch turns off.
