The present invention provides a method for accelerating a negotiation of a visual telephone and the visual telephone thereof, wherein the method includes that: a visual telephone queries, in a local database, the parameters stored when successfully negotiating with an opposite terminal last time; and if finding the parameters, the visual telephone uses the parameters stored when successfully negotiating with the opposite terminal last time as parameters in parameter information, and sends media data to the opposite terminal. According to the present invention, the visual telephone can directly perform the operations for sending, receiving and playing the media data without processing multiple negotiations, and occupies fewer resources, so the application of the present invention is more flexible, and effectively improves the negotiation speed, and does benefit to the service promotion.
