The present invention relates to a method for obtaining a novel strain of the species Bifidobacterium bifidum which is capable of inhibiting the growth of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) by a molecular mechanism present in this strain and absent in other strains of the same genus. The use of this microorganism can be applied in the agri-food and pharmaceutical sectors.
