METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING THE MAMMALIAN ANIMAL SPECIES AT THE ORIGIN OF PROTEINS CONTAINED IN A SAMPLE BEING TESTED

The present invention relates to a method for identifying the mammalian animal species at the possible origin of the proteins contained in a sample of biological material being tested, characterized in that the following steps are carried out, wherein: a) a purified peptide preparation is made from an extract of the total proteins of said sample, and b) a spectrum of said preparation is produced by so-called MALDI-TOF MS mass spectrometry, and c) the spectrum obtained in step b) is compared to previously produced reference spectra of various peptide extracts of dental pulp samples from various mammalian animal species, and d) a mammalian animal species at the origin of said tested specimen is identified as being that of said reference mammalian specie(s), if all of the peaks of said reference spectrum of step c) above are found in the spectrum obtained in step b) above.
