The disclosed multi-primary color liquid crystal panel drive circuit (100) is provided with a multi-primary color conversion circuit (110) for performing multi-primary color conversion in which gradation levels of an input video signal in each of multiple vertical scanning periods are converted to gradation levels of four or more primary colors, and an overdrive circuit (120) for setting the gradation levels of the four or more primary colors during a given vertical scanning period on the basis of the gradation levels resulting from multi-primary color conversion in said given vertical scanning period and the gradation levels resulting from multi-primary color conversion in a vertical scanning period at least one period previous to said given vertical scanning period. The disclosed multi-primary color liquid crystal panel drive circuit makes it possible to improve the display quality when the gradation levels of the input video signal changes.
