ASSEMBLY, REELING AND UNREELING OF INTERNALLY CLAD PIPE

A method of reeling a pipeline and extending the pipeline with an additional pipeline section is described. The pipeline(6)has a corrosion-resistant metallic liner tightly fitted within a carbon steel pipe of the pipeline. The method comprises the following: sealing the pipeline at a leading end and a trailing end, and flooding the pipeline with liquid at a first pressure of up to 1 bar;pressurising the liquid in the pipeline to a second pressure of greater than 25 bar;reeling the pipeline at least partially on to a reel from the leading end with the fluid pressurised to the second pressure; depressurising the pipeline; and welding the additional pipeline section to the trailing end of the pipeline to form an extended pipeline with a new trailing end, wherein the additional pipeline section is not flooded with liquid before it is welded to the trailing end of the pipeline.
