The invention relates to a system for managing an urban environment, which includes an urban environment data acquisition system having a plurality of sensors (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) that acquire data from the environment, a plurality of hub nodes (7) that communicate with the sensors (1, 2, 3, 4, 5), a plurality of bridge nodes (15) that communicate with the hub nodes (7) and a database that communicates with the bridge nodes (15) by means of a higher communication network (21) and that receives and stores the data. The sensors (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) belong to at least two different sensor families and the hub nodes (7) are able to communicate with any of the sensor families. A processing means can access the data from at least two of the sensor families.
