The mechanism has a filtering unit including a weighted lever arm (5) hinged at its opposite anchoring end on bearings (22, 23) that are associated with first structure (1) i.e. floor, and a second structure, respectively. The lever arm is arranged as a one-piece fork comprising a set of branches (19, 20) that is interconnected by a crossbar (21). The set of branches is hinged to the bearings around corresponding spaced-apart parallel pivot axes. The fork carries a torsion shaft (24) that extends between the branches at their corresponding free ends. An independent claim is also included for a seat comprising a post.
