The machine (2) has a set of retainers (50) for receiving tobacco bars from a conveyor path (58a), and an output section with an output drum arranged downstream to a conveyor (46), where the output section is rotatably supported around a rotating axis. The output drum is formed as a trough drum, and the tobacco bars are transferred from the retainers to a trough of the trough drum. The conveyor and the output drum are commonly arranged in a frame and aligned to each other. The output drum transfers the tobacco bars to a downstream filter setting machine (60). An independent claim is also included for a cigarette manufacturing machine comprising a filter setting machine with an input drum arranged adjacent to an output drum of a tobacco strand machine.
