PURPOSE: A method and a device for upgrading the rights stored in a memory card are provided to upgrade by directly searching the rights corresponding to the rights object identifier among rights stored in a SRM.;CONSTITUTION: A controller of a terminal(30) checks whether rights information corresponds to a rights object identifier. The controller generates right objects based on rights information and an encryption key of the rights information. The connector of a terminal receives the rights information and the encryption key based on asset identifier from a memory card(50). The connector transmits identifier information of the rights object and identifier information of the updated rights object for installing the updated rights object.
