PURPOSE: An air layer formation method and a rotor thereof are provided to improve cooling performance by forming an air layer in the iron layer of a rotor in a columnar direction.;CONSTITUTION: A plurality of penetration holes(55) are formed in an iron core(52) in a columnar direction. An iron core layer(51) is formed by vertically laminating the plurality of iron cores. An air layer(53) is formed between an upper iron core layer(51b) and a lower iron core layer(51a) in a columnar direction. A filler is filled in the remaining space of the air layer except for the penetration hole. An end-ring is formed in the upper surface and lower surface of the iron core layer.
