PURPOSE: A gesture recognition apparatus, and a robot system having the same are provided to recognize four gestures such as waving, calling, raising, stopping gesture for remote distance interactivity.;CONSTITUTION: A human detection unit(120) detects the face region of a user from an input image. A gesture area setting unit(130) establishes a gesture domain based on the detected face region. An arm detection unit(150) detects arm region of the user within the gesture domain. A gesture decision unit(160) distinguishes a target gesture of the user within the gesture domain with the location of the arm domain, and the analysis of the type information and movement directivity.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
