PURPOSE: A novel methane-oxidizing bacteria and a method for reducing methane using the same are provided to further effectively decompose methane.;CONSTITUTION: A Methylocystis sp. M6 KCTC 11519BP is isolated and identified from a landfill. A composition for reducing methane contains Methylocystis sp. M6 KCTC 11519BP. The composition further contains soil or earthworm cast in a weight ratio of 50:50-90:10. A bio-cover for reducing methane contains the composition and oxygen generator.
