PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for cooling a plunger tip for diecasting are provided to maintain uniform expansion rate of a plunger tip by controlling the retention time of cooling water in the plunger tip according to the temperature of the cooling water.;CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for cooling a plunger tip for diecasting comprises a water jacket(21), a cooling water pipe(23), a cooling water hole(24), a cooling water inlet(26), a cooling water outlet(25), a temperature sensor(11), a solenoid valve(12), and a controller(10). The water jacket is formed inside a plunger tip(20). The cooling water pipe, the cooling water hole, the cooling water inlet, and the cooling water outlet are formed in a piston rod. The solenoid valve is installed in the cooling water pipe and controls the amount of cooling water flowing in the cooling water pipe. The controller controls the solenoid valve by comparing the cooling water outlet temperature with the target temperature.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
