PURPOSE: A refrigerator having a defrosting unit for defrosting the stored food and an operation method thereof are provided to rapidly decrease the surface temperature of the stored goods and to minimize a defrosting time.;CONSTITUTION: A refrigerator having a defrosting unit for defrosting the stored food comprises a main body, a refrigeration cycle device(10), a defrost box, a defrost heater(50), and a blower(60). A storage room is formed in the main body. The refrigeration cycle device cools the storage room. The defrost box comprises a plurality of air jet holes and is installed in the storage room. The defrost heater heats the food stored in the defrost box. The blower is installed in the defrost box. The coo air of the storage room is guided to the defrost box through a plurality of air jet holes to cool the stored food and discharged out of the defrost box.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
