PURPOSE: A BaZrO3-based protonic ceramic and an NiO composite are provided to enable the sintering at 1500 C or less due to excellent sinterability of NiO, and to obtain a negative electrode substrate for protonic ceramic fuel cell with excellent gas permeability. CONSTITUTION: A BaZrO3-based protonic ceramic and an NiO composite have a composition of chemical formula 1: Ba(Zr_(1-x)Re_xO)O_(3-). In chemical formula 1, 0x=0.2; Re is rare earth materials selected from the group consisting of Y, Yb, Sc, Pr, Nd, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er and Sm. The content of NiO is 90-200 weight% based on the weight of BaZrO3-based protonic ceramic.
