PURPOSE: A method for preparing precipitated calcium carbonate using basic calcium carbonate as a precursor and the precipitated calcium carbonate are provided to easily control the particle size of the precipitated calcium carbonate by controlling an initial or middle temperature increasing speed. CONSTITUTION: The concentration of Ca(OH)_2 is adjusted. The amount of Ca(OH)_2 is 3 to 5wt%. Carbon dioxide gas is introduced into the concentration adjusted Ca(OH)_2 at the rate of 100 to 300mL/min in order to induce the generation of basic calcium carbonate through a carbonation reaction at the temperature between 15 and 23 degrees Celsius. The basic calcium carbonate is decomposed and precipitated at the temperature between 15 and 21 degrees Celsius.
