AIR STARTER FOR A DIESEL ENGINE WITH IMPROVED STRUCTURE OF A CLUTCH

PURPOSE: An air starter for a diesel engine is provided to reduce the compression stress acting on each tooth in a clutch by distributing the force exerted on the vertical plane of each tooth through an arc-shaped groove.;CONSTITUTION: An air starter for a diesel engine comprises a compressed air intake part, a turbine which is driven with compressed air drawn in through the compressed air intake part, a carrier shaft which is located on the same axis as a turbine shaft, a planetary gear unit which connects the turbine shaft and the carrier shaft, a drive unit which is rotated by being coupled to the carrier shaft and moved along the axis of the carrier shaft, a piston unit which is moved by compressed air to move the drive unit, a ratchet shaft which is rotated and moved by being connected to the drive unit, and a clutch which connects the drive unit and the ratchet shaft. In the clutch, a groove part(112) having a groove(113) is formed in a vertical plane(111a) of each tooth(111) of a first clutch plate(110) and a projection part(122) being inserted in the groove is formed on a vertical plane(121a) of each tooth(121) of a second clutch plate(120).;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
