PURPOSE: A method for forming a red phosphor is provided to ensure relatively inexpensive formation costs since inexpensive tellurium and manganese are used as active ions.;CONSTITUTION: A method for forming a red phosphor comprises the steps of: (S10) preparing a mixture of a metal-containing material represented by AB, tellurium(Te)-containing material, and manganese(Mn); and (S20) heat-treating the mixture in an airtight container to form a red phosphor of chemical formula: AB_x:Mn_y,Te_z.
