PURPOSE: A separation method of beta-sitosterol from trunks of hippophae rhamnoides, and an anti-inflammatory activity composition containing the beta-sitosterol are provided to use the anti-inflammatory activity composition as a therapeutic agent for arthritis.;CONSTITUTION: A separation method of beta-sitosterol from trunks of hippophae rhamnoides comprises the following steps: applying ethanol to the bark of the dried trunks of the hippophae rhamnoides, for obtaining the ethanol extract of the trunks of the hippophae rhamnoides; adding distilled water and hexane to the ethanol extract for separating an upper layer and a lower layer from the solution containing the hexane; separating an upper layer and a lower layer from a solution containing dichloromethane; collecting the lower layer from the solution containing the dichloromethane, for obtaining dichloromethane fractions; and separating the beta-sitosterol from the dichloromethane fractions using the medium pressure liquid chromatography.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
