PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for diagnosing of electronic control unit for vehicles are provided to detect the malfunction of the software for the vehicle control, and to trace and analyze the reason of the malfunction of ECU. ;CONSTITUTION: The method of diagnosis of the electronic control unit for the vehicles includes the steps of: receiving address included in the software for the vehicle control of function from the ECU(S320); deciding the function of the software which is presently called through the comparison of the information saved in the address and mapped file of the received function(S330); and diagnosing ECU by using the output of the function of the software for the called vehicle control(S350).;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
