PURPOSE: A control device of hybrid vehicle and a method thereof are provided to prevent drivability deterioration and clutch damage, driving problems due to SOC depletion of a battery. ;CONSTITUTION: A control device of hybrid vehicle is includes an engine(70), a motor(80), an engine clutch(90) installed between the engine and the motor, a transmission(100), and a control unit(20) controlling an EV mode and an HEV mode by controlling the engine clutch and controlling output torque of the motor and the engine. When the EV mode is converted into the HEV mode, a hybrid controller controls torque inputted to the transmission and the rotation number of the engine, and the slip hydraulic amount of the engine clutch.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
