PURPOSE: A 4-way valve for an air conditioner using a duplex spool valve is provided to simplify a manufacturing process and execute the function of the existing 4-way valve only with a process of forming a hole inside a spool. CONSTITUTION: A 4-way valve for an air conditioner comprises a main spool valve(54), a sub-spool band(55), a control block(76), a first pilot conduit line(58), a second pilot conduit line(59), and a low pressure pipe(70). The main spool valve is composed of a valve body(51) and a main spool(71). The valve body forms a predetermined chamber. The main spool is moved in the chamber in the longitudinal direction. The main spool selectively connects a plurality of ports to form a flow path. The sub-spool band is composed of a valve body(61a) and a sub-spool(56). The sub-spool band makes the main spool forward or backward depending on to position to which the sub-spool is moved. The first and the second pilot conduit lines communicate the chambers of the sub-spool valve and the main spool valve.
