PURPOSE: A method for preparing a proton conducting halogen-based graft copolymer electrolyte membrane is provided to ensure excellent thermal, mechanical, and chemical properties, high ion conductivity, low fuel permeation property, low dehydration effect, and low gas permeation property. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing a proton conducting halogen-based graft copolymer electrolyte membrane includes the steps of: (i) obtaining a polymer to which a hydroxyl group is introduced, by grafting a monomer having a hydroxyl group on the halogen-based graft copolymer; and (ii) adding a sultone compound to the polymer. The sulfonic acid group is introduced by the reaction of the hydroxyl group and the sultone compound.
