PURPOSE: A composition containing Gastodia elata Blume extract for preventing and treating Parkinson's disease is provided to suppress tyrosine hydroxylase(TH) protein expression reduction. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating Parkinson's disease contains Gastodia elata Blume extract as an active ingredient. The Gastodia elata Blume extract is isolated using water, low alcohol of C1-C4, or mixture solvent thereof. A method for preparing the Gastodia elata Blume extract comprises: a step of adding 1-100 time(v/w) of water, low alcohol of C1-C4, or mixture thereof to Gastodia elata Blume sample; a step of performing enfleurage extraction, hot water extraction, sonication, reflux, or heating at 30-110C for 1-5 hours; a step of filtering, decompressing, and drying the extract. A health food for preventing and treating Parkinson's disease contains Gastodia elata Blume extract as an active ingredient.
