PURPOSE: A compound isolated from Phoma herbarum is provided to ensure excellent antioxidant activity compared with ascorbic acids used as existing antioxidants.;CONSTITUTION: A bromochlorogentisylquinone A having antioxidant activity has a structure of chemical formula 1. In chemical formula 1, R1 represents Br and R2 represents H. A bromochlorogentisylquinone B having antioxidant activity has a structure of chemical formula 2. In chemical formula 2, R1 represents H and R2 represents Br.
